Last updated:
This GPU temperature chart lists the official maximum GPU temperature for current NVIDIA GeForce and AMD Radeon graphics cards, together with the normal idle and gaming temperature ranges. Last updated: October 2026.
What is the maximum temperature of each GPU?
The maximum temperature of each GPU is the point where the card starts thermal throttling. NVIDIA publishes the limit for GPU core temperature; AMD publishes the limit for junction (hotspot) temperature.

AMD Radeon temperature chart
| GPU | Max junction (hotspot) temperature | Normal gaming (edge) | Normal gaming (hotspot) |
|---|---|---|---|
| RX 9070 XT / RX 9070 | 110°C | 60–80°C | 75–95°C |
| RX 9060 XT | 110°C | 55–75°C | 70–90°C |

Normal ranges are typical values for cards with standard coolers in a case with good airflow. Your exact numbers vary with cooler, fan curve, case airflow and room temperature.
How do you read this GPU temperature chart?
You read this chart by comparing your GPU’s temperature under load with the maximum temperature for your model. There are 3 rules:
- More than 10°C below the max: safe.
- Within 5°C of the max: safe but warm; consider better airflow.
- At the max: thermal throttling; fix the cooling.
To measure your own temperature, follow how to check GPU temp.
Why are AMD temperature limits higher than NVIDIA limits?
AMD temperature limits are higher because AMD rates the junction (hotspot) sensor, the hottest point on the die, while NVIDIA rates the average GPU core temperature. The two numbers measure different points, so 95°C hotspot on an AMD card is comparable to roughly 75–80°C core temperature.
What should you do if your GPU reaches its maximum temperature?
If your GPU reaches its maximum temperature, check the fans, clean the dust, improve case airflow and consider undervolting. The step-by-step fixes are in how hot is too hot for a GPU and how to undervolt a GPU.
